Check your installations
Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and time. Therefore, if the safety of the users is not to be put at risk, it is important that every installation is periodically inspected and tested by a competent person.
The inspection and testing should be carried out at appropriate intervals to determine what, if anything, needs to be done to maintain the installation in a safe and serviceable condition.
New regulations came in to effect on 1st June 2020 for all private rented properties. This requires landlords to have the electrical installations in their properties inspected and tested by a person who is qualified and competent, at least every 5 years. Landlords have to provide a copy of the electrical safety report to their tenants, and to their local authority if requested.
We carry out these reports called Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR) for many of our customers. Domestic properties should be tested every 10 years or less if the electrician deems necessary.
We carry out these reports and also provide them for customers when moving house for either the buyer or the seller for insurance purposes.
If you are not sure when your house last had an inspection we would be delighted to visit and make recommendations based on an initial visual survey.
